Shaping Society

young and innocent
we are ready to mold.
We begin to shape
our desires and fold.

Parents influence
and societies teach.
Frantic Achilles
abundantly weeps.

Stoic gentlemen
from days long gone
are lost to this world.
Forever a pawn.

Athena, in books she tells
of what the world is today
while Poseidon grows
and Death begins to play.

Happiness is for the strong
not the lazy Juggernaut.
Medusa will hypnotize
those lost in abstract thought.

this is about how society and religion shapes us. the bits about Greece show our own Connection with it. the Westren world was shaped by the Greeks and the Romans(which were also shaped by the Greeks).

This is where our paths must split,
For I haven't yet the wings to fly with you.
I can only hope for a day, once my wings I have received,
When the winds will cause our paths to cross once more.
thanks!

If you LOVE it then suggest it to a GM - now!
Good poem! I love Greek mythology, and I adore how you incorporated greek elements into this poem... The thing about religion in a humanist perspective is that it is man-made, a social construct being forced down our throats from the day we were born. Anyway, Nice job! as always my friend. ^_^

Some people say they haven't yet found themselves. But the self is not something one finds; it is something one creates.
Mmm. Told you what I thought already.
Love the Grecian reference!
"Frantic Achilles

That is my favorite line. This is so very well-written, and I take it you are a fan of Greek Mythology? You have such a marvelous way of connecting so true and important of issues into a poem's figurative langauge. great job!
