Serial Killer

Fathoms upon fathoms of dark mysteries
that suffocate the world above, but
the world above feeds this delirious world
while still creating more mysteries in the deep blue.

This filth stretches both deep and wide.
Miles layered over miles of hazards
that rotates in a lethargic slumber,
growing upon chance and
killing by simply growing.

Nothing lives where this monster resides;
the lake being black amidst a sparkling ocean.
Decaying and growing; alive and sleeping.
Slippery creatures disappear, boats capsize, and
wings fall into tormented decay.

Fathoms upon fathoms of disappearing tricks.
Though the world can see,
it cannot hear, and
though the mysteries know,
they Cannot speak.

Has any one heard about the "garbage dump" in the ocean?

There is an estimated 100 million tons of garbage in the deep blue. you can find anything from footballs and legos, to oil and chemicals there. This dump is the serial killer, but it reflects us. keep that in mind.

Here's a link to the info if you would like to know more about it.

at first, I thought you were actually writing about an actual serial killer, and that the ocean was a metaphore of some sort. Only at the authors comments, I realised it was the other way around :)

F: Bernard, where's Manny ?
B: Him? He left, like I always knew he would. that's what people do when you love them, and nurture them.
F: You mean you sacked him.
B: There may have been an incident.

Nice poem buddy! Pollution is something industrialized countries cannot see as a huge problem. I've always wondered why Japan has cleaner streets than most of the countries in East Asia and have numerous factories, artifical islands etc. Even Russia is reported on dumping waste in the ocean (though I'm sure there's a media blackout about this with the way Putin has been treating free press there).

Some people say they haven't yet found themselves. But the self is not something one finds; it is something one creates.
Hmmm. Maybe I shall. I think I will when I see competition.

Ok, this time I was more in tune with the analogy of the oil and waste causing detriment, nay, destruction in its path. The reason I find these poems attractive is that you articulate the subject on a theoretical or narrative level.
Perhaps the best reason I can give for why I watched you is because you are unlike the dime-a-dozen poet who thinks that because poetry can be short that it is somehow easier than a written story.
A bit cocky eh? lol...Well I wish you good luck man.
